We live in a rather difficult region, and I’m just convinced that in this region either you have to be a factor, or the British say good things: if you’re not at the table, then you’re on the menu. This was stated by the second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan at a meeting with students and teachers of the Armenian University.:

“To be a factor, we must have a combat-ready army. To have a combat-ready army, we must also have military and political allies, we are not China or Russia. These issues need to be resolved very quickly. If we don’t restore this, we will be on the menu in this region. And every unstable situation in this region will create great risks for us, very great risks, and the temptation to take Syunik for Azerbaijan will be very great.

And there is a danger in this. Both in relation to Syunik and in relation to a part of Sevan. We want this. During the elections of the 21st, I was asked a lot, but how many years does it take to rebuild the army? I say 3-5 years, it’s been 4. I don’t see anything being done. When they tell me that they are delivering artillery or some kind of rocket from India, I have a question, how then can I provide this with ammunition?

And they take what they can’t bring. Who! Something is here, something from one place, something from another. And the most interesting thing is, do you know what it is? If you remember, they were publicly accused of fighting with weapons in their hands in the 80s. Look at the war in Ukraine: the weapons of the 60s, 70s, 80s are, in fact, the most reliable weapons. We lost to the Bayraktars during this war.

With the same capabilities of the Russian air defense in Ukraine, all bayraktars were shot down and destroyed in 2 weeks. We only heard about bayraktars during the first 2-3 weeks of the war, because they were big, they were caught by radars, small ones did not catch radars, but they were big, slow-moving, 150, 160 km/h. How did this happen? We had to solve the bayraktar problem within the first 2 weeks and finish it. How did it happen? One of the reasons for this is that I said so. The army was in the process of “clubbing” reforms. The air defense did not work. Why didn’t they shut off all the air? Because the order of the air defense was changed, they took the Su, which were not used at all, but good selfies were taken against their background. Is it necessary to talk about this now or not?
