As we reported, a statue of the hero was unveiled today in front of Yerevan’s Robert Abajian School No. 147.

For the Kanaker-Zeitoun administrative district of Yerevan, the 147th basic school is named after the Hero of Artsakh, Robert Abajyan. 2003-2011 The school in the village of Gerik in the Kashatagh region of Artsakh is also named after the hero of the April war.

Numerous classrooms in Armenia, the auditorium and the library of the Defender of the Fatherland Rehabilitation Center are named after the Hero.

The night of April 1-2, 2016 was the last night for many sons of the Armenian people.:

That night, units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces launched a large-scale offensive along the entire line of contact between Artsakh and Azerbaijan. After the shelling of the strongholds located in the northeastern direction of the Republic of Artsakh, the Azerbaijani units go on the offensive.

Groups of about three hundred people, supported by tanks, are trying to capture the Armenian positions. The company commander, Captain Armenak Urfanyan, and a platoon of six soldiers took over the first battle in the attack launched by the enemy. Urfanyan and his team managed to repel the enemy twice:

When he realized that it was no longer possible to resist an enemy armed with numbers and military equipment, he took fire on himself and ordered the soldiers to retreat. For the first time, the soldiers did not listen to the commander, and the unequal struggle continued… Karam Sloyan, Robert Abajyan, and Andranik Zohrabyan died along with their commander, while others were wounded.:

After Urfanyan’s death, Robert Abajyan, who was wounded in the leg, took command and continued the battle through the barrier. Noticing that the trench was running out of ammunition, he sent soldiers to get ammunition. During this time, the enemy manages to enter the position.

Abajyan, along with his only remaining colleague, wounded machine gunner Andranik Zohrabyan, retreat to cover in stubborn resistance. Zohrabyan is dying of bleeding. Having settled into a combat niche, Robert Abajian continues to fight single-handedly with numerous enemy forces to the last bullet, at the same time contacting the battalion commander and passing him important information about the events taking place at the position.

Noticing the enemy approaching him, Abajyan takes out his last remaining grenade and, seeing the enemy approaching him, blows up several enemy soldiers with a grenade.
