Germany will help Armenia to … statement by the German Chancellor

Germany is very interested in Armenia’s rapprochement with Europe.

As reported by”The German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated this at a joint press conference with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, touching upon the question of whether Germany is ready to help create new opportunities for deeper integration into the EU for Armenia, including in the economic, energy and institutional spheres.

“We are very interested in bringing Armenia closer to Europe. We have an agreement on specific projects, and Germany will also help Armenia with a number of energy supply projects in order to achieve greater independence in this area,” Merz said.

He noted that they had discussed this very specifically with the Armenian Prime Minister, and had reached corresponding agreements, which had also been expressed in writing. There is a bilateral agreement to cooperate closely in the coming years.

“After peace with Azerbaijan, there is a historic chance to put this process on a broad, stable and European basis,” the German Chancellor said.

According to him, Europe also has great attractiveness for the countries of the South Caucasus region.
