
Robert Kocharyan was born on August 31, 1954 in Stepanakert, Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Region. He graduated from high school with honors in Stepanakert. In 1977, he entered the Electrical Engineering Faculty of the Yerevan Polytechnic Institute. After graduating from the third year with honors, despite the teachers’ calls to stay at the institute and continue to study science, he was transferred to correspondence studies at the Moscow Power Engineering Institute. Later he returned to Stepanakert and graduated from the Institute with honors in 1982.
A prominent representative of the Artsakh movement. Armenian statesman and politician. Prime Minister of the Republic of Artsakh from 1992 to 1994. The first President of the Republic of Artsakh from 1994 to 1997. Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia from 1997 to 1998. The second President of the Republic of Armenia from 1998 to 2008:
