Turkish media reported that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, at the request of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, ordered the construction of 10 mosques in Armenia.
According to the publication, the construction of new mosques in Armenia is scheduled to begin in early December. It is reported that five mosques will be built in the territories located near the Armenian-Turkish border, while the remaining five will be built in major cities of the country.
“…This step, first of all, demonstrates Yerevan’s desire and determination to promote cultural diversity and move beyond the long-standing political and historical disputes that have divided two historical neighbors and ancient peoples in the same geography for more than a century,” the Turkish website wrote.:
According to sources close to the Armenian government, the initiative is being encouraged by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who sees the project as an opportunity to strengthen cultural and religious ties between the two countries.:
Despite the fact that Armenia is known for about 98 percent of its Christians, Prime Minister Pashinyan is rumored to have supported Erdogan’s proposal and has already secured funding for the historic project through the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports.:
Nikol Pashinyan’s press secretary Nazeli Baghdasaryan warned that the OdaTV website is spreading false information and reprinting it by some Armenian media.:
“The olatv website has once again introduced false information, and a number of Armenian media outlets, without minimal verification or clarification of sources, hastened to reprint this fake, regardless of their intention, unwittingly becoming a participant in the chain of disinformation.
This is a long-lived and old scenario: external sources create a completely false and provocative story, and some internal actors immediately spread it, trying to create a field of distrust and a new polarization in society,” wrote the press secretary of the Prime Minister.:
He considered it obvious that the closer the electoral processes get, the more disinformation attacks directed against Armenia’s statehood, state institutions and public officials will escalate.
